Cryptorchidism » Genitals Q53.-

Bilateral undescended testes in at term newborn or at least unilateral undescended testis in males more than 1 year of age. Excl. retractrile testis. Mere undescended testicle is not a malformation in the newborn because the testicle may complete its descent days or weeks later. But with normal weight, the lack of descent is bilateral, and / or is accompanied by a hypoplastic scrotum, this is a congenital anomaly.

It should not be considered as a malformation if the newborn weights less than 2500 g.
